What is power, and how do machines utilize it? Welcome to Introduction to Automation: The Power to Create Motion. This is the third course in the series, built on the foundation of concepts outlined in the first two courses - A Foundation to Theatre and Entertainment Practices and The Physics of Machines That Move. This course will introduce you to the power generation and transmission required to create motion. 

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of electricity related to moving objects and their application in entertainment automation.
  • Identify and analyze the principles and characteristics of converting electrical energy to motion in the context of entertainment automation.
  • Understand the theory of motion control devices used in entertainment automation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of power transmission methods and their application in entertainment automation.
